JEAN-LOUIS GARNELL “ESCALIER C 2007”

“I had decided that I could work in the city where I am living: Châtenay-Malabry, some kilometres south from Paris. I work quite always in the proximity of the place I am living. I need to have relations, with places or people. I am not a reporter. I can work also in a place, but only if I stay a certain time, and it was not possible for me to do that this winter. In my city, as everywhere in the suburbs of Paris, many people of different nationalities are living. For me it is the place where the relations are experienced, and where also the conflicts can happen, remember last winter in France. The boundaries are more inside that outside. The question is: what can be shown with photography?”
