In the Ina-Casa Rosta Nuova area in Via Wybicki, Reggio Emilia, Giorgio Barrera has created a special series as part of his “Through the window” research, in which the outside gaze penetrates the intimacy of private spaces. By using the window - a metaphor for vision in European artistic culture - as a setting within which life’s daily theatre takes place, the photographer uses a rapport of complicity to depict the inhabitants of flats and public places like schools and libraries. Inspired by recent theoretical reflection on the possibility of documentary photography, Barrera moves through the uncertain terrain between realism and fiction.
