Kai-Uwe Schulte-Bunert was born in the ex-GDR in 1969 and now lives in Berlin. After studying art history and advertising, he became involved in photography during a year spent in Italy. In 1999 he decided to devote himself to professional photography, working for theatres, dance companies and orchestras in Germany and accompanying his onstage photographs with exhibitions and publications. In 2002 he began his personal research into the landscape and in particular into marginal, uninhabitable spaces.
His recent personal exhibitions include Wunden der Zeit Görlitz, 2004; Specie di spazio, Reggio Emilia, 2004; Dramatik des Alltags, Görlitz, 2005, Passaggi, Reggio Emilia, 2006 and the Art Bag Project, 2006. Fabrizio Cicconi
Born in Reggio Emilia in 1964, he embarked on the photography profession in 1987. His research concerned the image of man from the very beginning of his work, as evidenced by his first one-man show, Padani, held at Palazzo Ruini in Reggio Emilia in 1991. His work, centred on the theme of portraits, has allowed him to start collaborations with cultural institutes and musical groups. He has also worked for magazines and advertising agencies, where he creates advertising campaigns on a national level.
In April 1995 he worked with directors Davide Ferrario and Guido Chiesa on the production of a book on the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, documenting the cultural operation “Materiale Resistente” organised by the municipality of Correggio in collaboration with the C.S.I.
He produced a documentation work on public transport for ACT (Public Transport Company) between 2003 and 2004. Prepared by Sarah Grugnetti with the collaboration of Stefano Giovannelli of the “Foletti & Petrillo design” agency, it wound up with a one-man show entitled “Una Cittŕ in Movimento” at Palazzo Magnani of Reggio Emilia.
He produced documentation of a Kolkhoz in Uzbekistan in 2005. The work was included in the international photography show of Rome circuit, supervised by Marco Delogu, with an exhibit entitled “Politotdel” organised by Raffaella Guidobono of the A.K.A. gallery.
In addition to several one-man shows, he has taken part in a variety of group exhibits, including Portfolio, immagini in movimento, at Modena per la fotografia (1995); Aemilia, held at the Antico Foro Boario of Reggio Emilia (1996), organised by L. Gasparini and R. Valtorta; In tempo reale, organised by Franco Vaccari (1996); and Sguardi personali, organised in 2001-2002 at Castelvetro (MO).
