SADLY GO ROUND
In New York’s Coney Island amusement park, the contrast between the imaginary world and ephemeral reality comes to life. Vintage atmospheres of escapism and delirium are revisited by a nostalgic present. Surreal settings made of metal, nuts, and rail tracks. Melancholy rides and merry-go-rounds are enveloped by gleams of light stolen from dreams. Letterings and colourful signs reflect a world of fun destined to vanish into thin air. The contrast between then oneiric and the real generates a modern and desecrating paroxysm in which colours and lights are overshadowed by veiled melancholies. Nostalgia, illusion and cosmic vacuum make up a “sadly-go-round” dreamland soon to be destroyed.
