We are convinced that we are offering a work of art of extreme value, created not to be admired or catalogued as art, but only as a gesture of human piety. It is a document, sculpted on the body, of suffering that was often unbearable and perhaps this is why it is the most moving Stations of the Cross that has ever existed. The original work is preserved in a chapel, in an inaccessible place, protected more carefully than in any bank vault.
Unfortunately, the complete work will only be available in sixty years’ time, but because it has been discovered, we believe it is right to declare its existence today, even if we can only offer the public a partial vision.
