Expressive laboratories on the language of photography
for children from 3 to 14 years old
Laboratori didattici via Monzermone 14
4 May - 7 June 2009
promoted by Reggio Children and Musei Civici di Reggio Emilia
Reggio Children and the Civic Museum in Reggio Emilia will be promoting laboratories for children from 3 to 14 years old. An experience trail will investigate the issue of time through signs, drawings, traces and the memory of what time is represented by in our daily lives.
Two different experiences are proposed:
The time of transformation
Time is extended, stopped, dilated, observing materials, objects and places of everyday life, “transforming” and “deforming” them using digital technologies.
The time of the body
The body, the traces of its memory, where it meets the light, are observed and fixed in the eternity of a time slowed down by a photograph, an individual shot which shares the creativity of the group.
All the experiments and explorations done by the children will be photographed to bear witness to their experience.

15 May - 14 June 2009
promoted by Reggio Children
In cooperation with the Schools and Preschool Institute, Reggio Scuola and the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Reggio Children has since last year been promoting an experimental project on the subject of the photographic image involving children from preschools and primary schools. Through the photos taken by the children themselves, they tell their own images of time, which for them runs through everything which is living. Time which is divided into many different times, each running at its own speed: the time of friendship, of boredom, of movement, of fear, of hurry, of the cosmos… Before the exhibition, a multi-media display at the Spazio Gerra from 30th April presents the laboratory-based processes used in different schools which have led to the realisation of this exhibition event; a study ‘in progress’, which offers a live reading of the project in the immediacy of its execution.
