FALL

"For the assignment of “Fotografia Europa- Reggio Emilia 2008” I want to go deeper to explore the function of the eyes in my photography. Or maybe to be more specific: the distracting function of the eyes. Because what will happen if the eyes of the humans are not acting the way we expect in a photograph?  Even when it is a very attractive person, will this person still be beautiful when the eyes are not doing what we expect? Will a portrait still be judged as a portrait? Can we still “read” the eyes of a person when the eyes are different photographed then expected? For this I do not want to use  too much Photoshop techniques, I only want to use the shutter speed of my camera to create a series of photographs in which I will play with this theme, in which I give an important role to the human eye. And which creates the illusion of manipulation". (Erwin Olaf)

Fotografia Europea has invited four international artists to explore the theme of the body in different ways. These are truly original works that will later be purchased by Reggio Emilia Town Council in order to enhance the town’s artistic heritage. The photographers invited to take part are Erwin Olaf from Holland, the young Polish woman Aneta GrzeszykowskaAntoine D’Agata from France, Erwin Olaf from Holland and Ann-Sofi Sidèn from Sweden.
