Patrizio Esposito

Civici Musei - Palazzo San Francesco
30 April - 8 June 2008

DEL GUARIRE, DEL FERIRSI

Places: Patrizio Esposito’s work cannot be separated from the places in which it is created. These are not exhibition spaces, but environments that are usually used for other purposes, where one only enters and leaves the images as a gesture of gratitude for hospitality received. These are not images that use spaces to highlight themselves, but whose presence restores these spaces, and they only become truly manifest as a result of this restitution.
Photographs: Brief sequences of Polaroids, most of which unpublished, mainly aimed at photographing photographs that already exit. The bodies portrayed seem to appear as tactile signs of themselves, rather than figures with clear outlines. As a counterpoint to the Polaroids there are two monitors displaying photographs and amateur video footage of the Western Sahara. Both photographs by the artist and photos by others are combined in this installation, penetrated by reflections that link them, leaving each with its wound and each with its beauty.

This photographic research project on the theme Umano troppo umano (Human, Too Human) together with projects by Bruno Cattani, Benedetta Alfieri, Jarno Zaffelli, Fabio Donato, Nicola Vinci, Vanni Codeluppi and Elio Mazzacane enhances and completes the exhibitions on offer at Fotografia Europea 2008.
