TRENTATRÉ
“This is a series of fourteen works, made up mainly of diptychs and triptychs. The title, which is a number, is not only part of a numerical sequence but is, above all, a series of motivations linked to its symbolism. The number indicates the age of Jesus and connects a religious and spiritual nature in a relationship between life, death and resurrection. The spine has 33 vertebrae, the Italian language has 33 sounds and there are the same number of canti in the Divine Comedy. As Dante is supported by Virgil in his search for a spiritual path, my subjects are suspended between each other in the search for memory and direction. This is an exploration of places that is a journey through memories, environments that tell of lives, moments and stories. Numbers, objects, drawings, writings, signs on walls are all elements of a dialogue that moves from one photo to another, almost like the pages of a book that glide beneath our hands. It is the essence of man as a silent witness, leaving moments lived in these places that we can listen to, passing through the protagonists to the subjects represented within the images, through the photos attached to the wall. Spaces, places and objects are the only witnesses of our stories, stories that are whispered into the ears of children and handed on to the future". (Nicola Vinci)
