BRUNO CATTANI
 
Bruno Cattani was born in Reggio Emilia in 1964. He began to take photographs in 1982 and in 1995, after several years of research and solo exhibitions, he took part in the group exhibition Musica in Fotografia organised by IF Immagine Fotografia in Milan. In 1996 he was part of collective photographic research for Reggio Emilia Civic Museums, which culminated in an exhibition Metti il fotografo al Museo. He continued his research into places of art in this period and added to his collection of images of various museums all over Europe. He was chosen by Italo Zannier for the exhibition Giovani e sconosciuti, held in Spilimbergo in 1997. In 1998 he was invited to take part in research at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, where he displayed part of his work. The following years saw photographic research in museums such as the Musée Rodin (1999), the Musée du Louvre (2000), l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the National Institute for Graphics and Chalcography in Rome and the Archaeological Office in Pompei (2001). In 2003 he took part in the group exhibition Ritratto di una collezione at the Maeght Foundation. In the same year the National Archaeological Museum of Naples acquired the photographs produced in the city. In 2004 he took part in a screening on the Reggio Emilia photography school at the Maison Europeenne de la Photographie. The following year he took part in the group exhibition Architettura come paesaggio, which displayed the most important works produced by Studio Gabetti and Isolarchitetti, Turin and led to the creation of a volume with texts by Valter Bordini, Federica Dal Falco, Carlo Olmo and Paolo Portoghesi (published by Allemandi). In 2006 he was part of the group exhibition Uno Sguardo sulla Città for “Reggio Emilia - Settimana della fotografia europea”. The same year he took part in the group exhibition ITALIA 1946-2006, organised by CRAF in Spilimbergo and curated by Cesare Colombo, Claudio Emè and Walter Liva. In 2007 he was invited to display his works at the Photography Biennale in Salonica and took part in the group exhibition Italia-Provenza organised by Fontaine Oscure in Aix En Provence. In Pordenone he was part of a group exhibition curated by Elio Grazioli entitled Movimento – Emozione, which led to the creation of a catalogue. In the same year, his solo exhibition entitled Figure nel tempo was held at the Officine Fotografiche in Rome.
