Frontières/BordersFotografia Europea 2010 is widening its horizons by collaborating with Rencontres de Bamako – African photography biennial, the prestigious international event held in the Mali capital that bears witness to the great wealth and vitality of contemporary African photography. The last edition of Rencontres proposed reflection on the theme Frontières/Border, real or symbolic frontiers that were a crucial question in Africa as in Europe. They are explored through the different languages of art. Fotografia Europea breathes life into an unprecedented event, Europa Africa Sans Frontières, which is presented in the video installations of 15 artists selected by Michket Krifa and Laura Serani - curators of the exhibition Panafricaine and artistic directors of Rencontres - from the most influential of the 2009 edition of Rencontres and in a show dedicated to African culture. The project organised in Reggio Emilia by Laura Serani also involves local organisations engaged in cultural collaboration. In collaboration with Rencontres de Bamako - Biennale africaine de la photograhie (a co-production of Ministère de la Culture du Mali and Culturesfrance), Reggio nel Mondo and Centro Interculturale Mondinsieme Frontières/Borders Video installations from the VIII Rencontres de Bamako – Biennale africaine de la photographie7 May from 19.00 to 24.00 8 and 9 maggio from 10.00 to 24.00 Teatro Valli The show presents the video section of the great collective exhibit Panafrican shown at the last edition of Rencontres de Bamako, which brought together more than 50 photographers and artists in a broad overview of the various trends of contemporary photographic and video production in Africa.
